Job Duties
1. Review project plans, shop drawings and client sketches to confirm dimensions, materials and construction details; prepare simple cut lists and build sequences.
2. Measure, mark and lay out parts on sheet goods and solid wood prior to cutting.
3. Set up and operate common woodworking equipment (e.g., table saw, mitre saw, jointer, planer, router/shaper, drill press) and hand tools to cut, shape and form components.
4. Edge, trim and fit parts; assemble carcasses, drawers and doors using glue, clamps and appropriate fasteners; check for square, alignment and proper clearances.
5. Sand components and finished units; apply veneer, stain, sealer and/or clear coats as required to achieve specified colour and sheen.
6. Fit and install hardware (hinges, slides, pulls, soft-close mechanisms) and verify smooth operation.
7. Inspect finished pieces for accuracy, fit and finish; complete touch-ups, minor refinishing and small on-site repairs as needed.
8. Maintain a tidy, safe work area; perform daily equipment checks, minor preventative maintenance and follow OH&S/company safety procedures.
9. Track material usage, report shortages/damages, and communicate build progress or issues to the project coordinator to keep jobs on schedule.
10. Assist with basic field measurements or installation support when required.
11. May estimate material types/quantities and provide labour inputs for small jobs.
